Resources to support students’ (and everyone’s) mental health
Resources in support of Black Lives
p2l, in solidarity
We stand in solidarity to condemn the murder of George Floyd and the countless others who have been victimized by police brutality and systemic racism across our country. Our hearts, our hopes, and our energies are for all to come together and work in peace to end injustice and inequality. Through educating ourselves, listening to our students, and speaking up for our community, we can effect real change. Now more than ever we are committed to our enduring mission of empowering our communities: ensuring that all people are safe, have the agency to create positive change, and have the resources to thrive. Below are some resources to expand the effort in moving from acknowledgement to action for a more just and equitable world.
Demand Justice for Black Lives Now: This resource was formulated by volunteers at Columbia University’s Action Lab. This initiative started as a response to the COVID-19 crisis and is now evolving to address Action for Black Lives, and to more broadly address social justice on an ongoing basis.
Facing History and Ourselves: Reflecting on George Floyd’s Death and Police Violence Towards Black Americans: This resource just came out and is an amazing roadmap for educators to have conversations with students regarding George Floyd’s death and events that surround it. I think it is particularly helpful for our trainers who may need some direction and support in their virtual clubs.
Facing History and Ourselves: Bearing Witness: The Death of George Floyd: This article has additional historical resources to read.
The Root: This article is a timeline of events that led to the 2020 “fed up”-rising – thank you to Jenny for sharing this in the chat.
Remake of Shine a Light Circle: This resource is an amazing collection of reflective and healing resources for all.
The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond: This anti racist organization has been around for decades and offers an amazing workshop called Undoing Racism that many of us within both companies have participated in and that was personally life changing.
